Fluorite or Fluorspar is an industrial mineral from which the element Fluorine is released, a halogenide mineral, belonging to a non-metallic mineral. Fluorite comes in many colors except for a few that are colorless and transparent.

Fluorspar is the trade name of the mineral fluorite, with the chemical formula CaF2 , the Vietnamese name is sulfuric. In its pure form, it is composed of 51.1% calcium (Ca) and 48.9% fluorine (F). However, in nature, small amounts of silicon, aluminum and magnesium are often present as impurities. Commercial fluoride is graded according to its quality. The grades depend on the fluoride content and the amount of impurities included (calcium, quartz, sulfur, arsenic and lead).

Fluorite uses as a flux, is not only used in steel making but is also widely used in the manufacturing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. In these fields, it plays the role of desulfurization and dephosphorylation and enhances the calcination and hardness tensile strength of metal during smelting. In addition, Fluoride is used to manufacture special optical lenses.
